Intel blocca le patch contro Spectre e Meltdown

Non sono finiti i guai per Intel che dopo aver distribuito le patch per risolvere la vulnerabilità dei suoi processori le ha dovute ritirare a causa di una serie di comportamenti anomali riscontrati su alcune macchine dopo l’installazione. Reboot ripetuti e non richiesti hanno fatto capire agli ingeneri del colosso dei processori che qualcosa non era andato per il verso giusto, tanto da spingerli a chiedere di bloccare gli update fino al rilascio di una nuova versione.

Linus Torvalds, il famoso creatore del kernel Linux, ha dichiarato che i fix di Intel per Maltdown e Spectre sono spazzatura.

Is Intel really planning on making this shit architectural? Has anybody talked to them and told them they are f*cking insane?

They do literally insane things. They do things that do not make sense. That makes all your [i.e. Woodhouse’s] arguments questionable and suspicious. The patches do things that are not sane.
